The short version

• You can read the story anonymously. We do not ask you to identify yourself.
• We measure how far people read, and we record anonymised sessions so we can see where the page confuses people.
• We run Meta advertising, so a Meta pixel records that you reached the invitation and whether you went on to apply.
• If you choose to apply, that happens on Typeform, which is a separate service with its own policy.
• We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it.

What is collected while you read

Nothing here requires you to type anything. It is collected automatically by your browser as you use the page.

• Usage analytics through PostHog: pages viewed, how far you scrolled, whether you played the narration, whether you clicked the invitation, plus your approximate location derived from your IP address, your browser and your device type.
• A session recording through PostHog: a reconstruction of how the page behaved as you moved through it. Everything you could type is masked before it leaves your browser.
• Advertising events through the Meta pixel: that you arrived, that you reached the invitation, and that you left for the application form.
• Acquisition information stored in your browser: the campaign tags and advertising click identifiers on the link you arrived through, the site that referred you, and a random identifier we generate so a single application is not counted twice.
• Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider, including IP address and request time.

About the session recording

This is the most intrusive thing on the page, so it deserves its own paragraph.

PostHog reconstructs your visit so we can see where the reading experience breaks down. Text you could enter is masked at the point of capture, which means it never reaches our analytics at all. We use these recordings to fix the page, not to identify individuals.

You can prevent recording entirely by using a browser or extension that blocks analytics, or by enabling Global Privacy Control.

What is stored in your browser

You can clear all of these at any time through your browser settings, and doing so has no effect on your ability to read the page.

• aimr.attribution: the campaign tags, advertising click identifiers and referrer from your first visit. Kept so the advertising that brought you here is still known if you return days later.
• aimr.ref: a random identifier with no meaning outside our own reporting. It exists so one application is not reported to Meta twice.
• PostHog sets a cookie and local storage entries to recognise a returning browser.
• Meta sets its own cookies, including _fbp, when the pixel loads.

Why we collect it

• To understand whether the story is actually being read, and where people stop. This is our legitimate interest in running a page that works.
• To measure and improve advertising, so we spend on the audiences that find this relevant. Where consent is required in your jurisdiction, we rely on consent for this.
• To keep the site secure and working, which is our legitimate interest and in some cases a legal obligation.

If you apply

The application at the end of the page sends you to a form hosted by Typeform. What you write there, including your name and email address, is collected by Typeform on our behalf, and we read it. We also pass along the campaign information described above so we know which advertising a response came from.

We use what you send to decide whether a conversation makes sense and to have that conversation. We do not add you to a marketing list because you applied.

Who your information is shared with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the services that make this page work, each acting on our instructions:

• PostHog, for analytics and session replay.
• Meta Platforms, for advertising measurement.
• Typeform, for the application form.
• Our hosting and content delivery provider, for serving the site.

Where your information goes

These providers process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal information out of a jurisdiction that restricts it, we rely on the transfer mechanisms those providers make available, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long it is kept

Analytics and session recordings are kept for [retention period, for example 12 months] and then deleted. Applications and scheduling records are kept for as long as there is an active conversation, and for [retention period] afterwards. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent for advertising measurement.

Write to manuj@tetranoodle.com and we will deal with it. You will not be treated differently for asking. If you are in the UK or the EU and you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your local supervisory authority. If you are in Canada, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

How to stop the tracking on this page

• Use a browser or extension that blocks analytics and advertising trackers. It will stop both PostHog and the Meta pixel, and the page will work normally.
• Enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, where it is available.
• Adjust what Meta shows you and what it records through your Meta account's ad settings.
• Clear your browser storage for this site to remove everything described above.

Children

This page is written for experienced adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change what is collected, we will change this page and update the date at the top of it.
